Peggy Ray, Music Director
Peggy Ray holds a bachelor’s degree in music from UGA, a master’s degree in education, and has served as a music minister in churches in Texas and Georgia. Peggy studied conducting at UGA with Dr. Al Ligotti, Dr. Pierce Arant and Dr. Ann Howard Jones. Presently, she works at Clairmont Place, leading the Chapel program and directing the Clairmont Place Singers and Handchime choir. After serving 10 years as Associate Director, Ms. Ray was named Director of Chorale II in 2018.
Dr. Kathleen Ray
Dr. Kathleen Ray (Pianist) is a native Atlantan, and her heritage is saturated in music. She began piano lessons at the age of six and later began accompanying peers at school, as well as playing for church services, and continues to fill in as pianist in the area. While she is an excellent pianist, most of her work is done on French horn. Dr. Ray completed her DMA at Stony Brook University in May 2018, where she studied with David Jolley and Ann Ellsworth, as well as members of Orpheus Orchestra, The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, American Brass Quintet, and the New York Philharmonic. She has served as Professor of Horn at UNG since January 2018. She is an extremely active freelancer around the southeast and has performed with groups such as the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera, Savannah Philharmonic, and Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Ray is Horn Instructor for several schools in metro Atlanta and maintains an accomplished private studio. She currently sits as Acting Principal Horn of the Rome Symphony Orchestra in Rome, GA.
